Lyme Disease


Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migraines. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system.


The Study:

AMR Norfolk is now seeking eligible participants for our active Lyme Disease study. Lyme disease is transmitted to humans through infected blacklegged ticks. Individuals with untreated Lyme Disease can develop chronic joint inflammation (Lyme arthritis), neurological symptoms such as facial palsy and neuropathy, memory loss, and heart rhythm irregularities. Therefore, the goal of this study is to see if we can diagnose Lyme Disease earlier and better than currently available tests.


To qualify, you must be:

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Individuals in general good health
  • Willing to adhere to the time and compliance requirements. Participation in this study is voluntary, and you can leave the study at any time.

Qualified participants will receive at no cost:

  • All study related medical exams.
  • Lab tests
  • Investigational medicine or placebo

Compensation may be provided up to $100 per visit.
